People from all over the globe flock to New York City for the holidays year after year. Holiday movies like Home Alone 2, Elf and Serendipity contribute to the fascination of spending time in the Big Apple during the “most magical time of the year”. It’s also because magazines like Travel + Leisure consistently rank it as one of the best places to visit for Christmas.
It’s the one time of year when you will find most New Yorkers in the best of spirits, besotted by an atmosphere that is indescribable until you experience it for yourself. The countless lights and decorated storefronts and homes throughout the neighborhoods alone are enough to put a smile on anyone’s face, but there are also a host of activities to enjoy every year. Many are rich in tradition like the Rockefeller Christmas Tree lighting and Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall, but there are new and exciting things to enjoy every holiday season as well.
If you’ve been receiving my email for some time, you will know that each year I like to highlight a holiday attraction or event that makes New York special during this time of year. This year I filmed a short video at the Winter Village at Bryant Park, where visitors can enjoy a magnanimous holiday market that offers endless shopping, food and drinks with more than 170 holiday shops and eateries. The star attraction at the Winter Village is the massive ice-skating rink—flanked by a stunning 8,000-pound, 45-foot, beautifully lit Christmas tree—which is fun for everyone, whether you choose to venture onto the ice or just enjoy one of their many show performances.
I hope you will make time for yourself during the holidays and take in the spirit of all New York has to offer with friends and loved ones.
